David Hatchett

David Hatchett is an experienced executive and non-executive leader. He is currently Chief Executive of a multi-academy trust of 15 primary and secondary schools. He has held senior executive roles in two national school trusts and in a FTSE 100 company, where he led major assessment contracts for the UK and overseas governments.

An experienced Ofsted inspector and co-author of several published textbooks, David began his career as a teacher and school leader in east London. He has a long-standing commitment to voluntary service, including work with young offenders in the local community and as a ‘Games Maker’ at the London 2012 Olympics. David brings extensive governance experience across multiple sectors, including primary education, a successful sixth form college, and an NHS Board. Alongside his trusteeship at the ESU, he also serves as a trustee of Parentkind, a charity dedicated to improving parental engagement and strengthening relationships between school and home.

A strong advocate for oracy, David believes that empowering young people to develop their voice is essential to helping them realise their potential and contribute meaningfully to society. He holds a BA (Hons) in Education with English, an MA in Education Leadership, and an MBA in Executive Management.
