The ESU works with a wide range of organisations in partnership to advocate for oracy education and to provide schools with the tools to embed oracy practice into their settings. If you would like to explore partnership opportunities with the ESU please contact [email protected]
The Duke of Edinburgh Award
The ESU is delighted to be an Approved Activity Provider for the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Students are able to use their participation in any of our competitions for their Bronze Award Skills section. Find out more about DofE Award Approved Activity Providers.
Arts Award Supporter
The ESU is a proud Arts Award supporter. Arts Award takes children and young people on a creative journey, exploring the arts world, discovering their potential as artists, developing leadership skills – and gaining a recognised qualification along the way.
Students participating in any of our competitions or workshops can use their creative and performance skills to contribute to their Arts Award qualification. If you have older students supporting your debate, public speaking or performance work they can also have their leadership skills celebrated.
The Chartered College of Teaching
The ESU is delighted to partner with the CCT to deliver the Walter Hines Page scholarship. Entering it’s 100 year anniversary, our Page scholars have the opportunity to research oracy and communication teaching in the United States. Applicants must be either a member of the Chartered College of Teacher or the ESU.
ASEEDER
In partnership with ASEEDER, the ESU is proud to launch the new Youth Public Speaking Competition (YPSC). Open to young people in China, aged 6–16, the YPSC provides a leading global platform for public speaking. Its mission is to develop future leaders by nurturing exceptional communication skills and promoting cross-cultural understanding worldwide.
The University of Law
The ESU is pleased to partner with the University of Law to pilot hosting the ESU Schools’ Mace debating competitions in Manchester and Birmingham.
As part of this collaboration, the University provides the venue and refreshments for participating schools, helping to ensure a welcoming and professional competition experience. On event days, the university’s team also meets with students, offering insight into studying at University of Law, and raising awareness of higher-education pathways aligned with oracy, debate and critical thinking.
The National Gallery
The ESU and the National Gallery have collaborated in recent years to strengthen each other’s education programmes, particularly through the Articulation competition, a public speaking initiative that empowers young people to engage confidently with art.
The ESU has been proud to host this competition at Dartmouth House, while the National Gallery has delivered workshops for participants in the ESU’s International Public Speaking Competition (IPSC). This partnership not only enriches participants’ learning experiences but also highlights the strong alignment between our organisations in promoting oracy skills, fostering confidence, critical thinking and effective communication among young people.
