This year we had the good fortune of using The Sherborne Room at the Bishop’s Palace in Chichester for the regional final. This brought a sense of theatre to our performers as it dates from before Shakespeare’s time.
We welcomed back as our ever popular judges Hugh Dennis and Abigail Cruttenden (see pictured with winners). Unfortunately the third returning judge, Phil Hewitt was unable to attend through illness; our Branch Chairman, Anthony Davies stood in for him.
The judges were delighted with the high standard, though it gave them a difficult task to choose the winners. Confidence and performance were there in abundance.
The winners of the duologue were Francesca Armitage and Sarah Waghorn. They gave us Beatrice and Benedict from Much Ado About Nothing and came from St Catherine’s School Bramley.
The winner of the monologue was Emily Wheeldon. Her Lady Macbeth from Macbeth was a worthy winner. She came from Ditcham Park School. Very best wishes to them for the final in London.
