There are two strong themes in this month’s selection: words and democracy. There’s an article from Andrew Marr in the New Statesman linking words to the attempted assassination of Donald Trump; a commentary from The New York Times’s John McWhorter about the words we choose to describe the concept of democracy; and a piece looking at how words and how we use them could help to reverse the very real phenomenon of democratic decline. Plus we have Judi Dench looking back on her many Shakespearean roles, and a book about the origins of words that critics say ‘reads like a detective story’.

Find these and more in our article on the members’ hub now.
