International students triumph in English

International Language Centres, Colchester, held a public speaking competition in English for its international students in conjunction with the local ESU branch on 1 December 2022. The speakers were Jacinta Valdes Iturrate from Chile, Khalifa Al-Kahilfa from the United Arab Emirates, Mehmet Nural Altintas from Turkey and Gustav Svensson from Sweden. Gustav and Nural spoke in favour and against conventional examinations respectively, while Khalifa discussed clothes and fashion. Experienced ESU adjudicator, Annesley Hardy, congratulated all who took part before announcing Jacinta as the winner for her explanation of expressing opinion without offence. The participants are pictured along with Colchester ESU Chair Brian Cooke, who compered proceedings.
