Salisbury Branch: The Bustard Story

Loading Events

Join the Salisbury Branch of the ESU for a talk on the Great Bustard, a once-extinct population of birds in Wiltshire.  The talk will take place from 11am at the White Hart Hotel, Salisbury

David Waters’ founded the Great Bustard group in 1998 and his talk will give a brief history of the Great Bustard, why it is important, and how the project was undertaken. The story involves working with UK, Russian and Spanish governments, how David worked as an office cleaner on evening shifts to pay rent on the nature reserve, and meeting with various members of the Royal Family.

The main theme is of course the Great Bustard itself, the heaviest flying bird in the world and Wiltshire County Bird.

If you would like to book please email Julia Tibbs on [email protected].

Tickets: £28 for lecture and lunch, £12 for lecture only.
