PROFESSOR GARY GERSTLE, Professor of American History and Fellow of Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge

Gary Gerstle lives in Cambridge, England, and Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is primarily an historian of 20th century America with particular expertise in immigration and race issues. He has lectured worldwide, and is frequently consulted for his views on contemporary questions in the USA. In his talk to us he will give a broad survey of current trends in American society – race relations, migration, economic policies, relations with Europe, Russia, China, cultural changes, the impact of President Trump. Should we be optimistic or pessimistic about the future of the United States?
