The Trust exists to protect and conserve British Antarctic Heritage which includes six historic buildings and associated structures along with tens of thousands of artefacts which need great care and protection to ensure they survive in the hostile Antarctic climate. The most well-known of these sites is Port Lockroy, where the Trust mans a British Post Office in the Summer Season and provides tourists, who are fortunate enough to land, with an insight into the historic working conditions of the original explorers. Camilla is Chief Executive of the Trust and has, herself, recently visited Port Lockroy so she is ideally placed to explain the work of the Trust and its Conservation teams.
