Epping branch visit to concert at the Royal Festival Hall

Eighteen members of the branch were able to join our annual visit to the Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank of London.  This year’s programme included the Weber Overture, Oberon, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5. Emperor and Brahms Symphony No. 1.  The works were all performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted throughout by the brilliant young musician Lahav Shani without a note of visible music.

At one stage Shani laid down his baton and accompanied the lead pianist Francesco Piemontesi to demonstrate his own fantastic prowess.

A truly momentous concert was greatly enjoyed by all who attended and our thanks go to the organiser, Jean James.
