Welcome to the Bristol Branch

Welcome to the Bristol Branch of the ESU. We run an exciting programme of events throughout the year in order to support the ESU’s educational activities, and to provide interest and intellectual stimulation to our members.

Locally, we organise the Bristol and Bath Final of the Public Speaking Competition, for Bristol pupils in Years 9 -11, with the winning team taking part in the South West Regional Final. We have funded Discover Your Voice workshops for local secondary schools and have hosted the Performing Shakespeare Competition for pupils in Years 7-9 in the region, with two performers qualifying for the final in London.

We hold meetings in the Apostle Room of Clifton Catholic Cathedral with highly qualified speakers on subjects as diverse as ‘Butterfly Photography’ and ‘The Downfall of Margaret Thatcher’.
